Fast, Reliable and Effective

Thrombosis is a frequent complication in patients undergoing surgical procedures. The most frequent cause of mortality in plastic surgery patients is thrombosis and its consequence thromboembolism. There are many scores that stratify the risk of thrombosis, but they are not aimed at plastic surgery patients - they do not contain thrombogenic factors that are generated in cosmetic surgery procedures - since there is no specific score to assess the risk of thrombosis in plastic surgery, existing scores are used, which causes an inadequate assessment and, consequently, frequently failed prophylactic treatment. APPERT is this electronic scale. APPERT is an effective instrument to detect the risk of thrombosis in cosmetic surgery patients and anti-thrombotic prophylaxis is based on risk stratification. The factors and their weighting, as well as the prophylactic recommendations, are a guide to stratify the risk of thrombosis and apply the recommendations according to the degree of risk. The scale is based on the best available medical evidence. As new evidence emerges, new factors may be added, weighted differently, or removed, and recommendations modified.
